The Climate Action Plan (CAP) preparation process is designed to engage the community in a proactive approach to crafting solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This process was started as a collaboration between the City of San Luis Obispo and the Cal Poly Climate Team, a group of City & Regional Planning students. The first draft of the CAP was developed as part of a seven month effort under the direction of Professor Adrienne Greve. The effort involved a two-part process:
                1. A policy audit that identifies and quantifies all steps that the City has undertaken since 2005 that directly influence greenhouse gas emissions; and
                2. Development of a draft CAP that identifies focus areas and establishes strategies to reach GHG emissions reduction targets.

The City is currently reviewing the draft plan and will soon be asking for additional community input as the draft plan goes through the public outreach process.
