                LOCAL NEWS

                County Develops EnergyWise Plan
The County of San Luis Obispo has released a draft of an "EnergyWise" Plan (Climate Action Plan). To see the strategies being recommended for the areas of the County outside of the seven incorporated cities, click the link HERE.
                Climate Change Adaptation Workshop
The Local Government Commission (LGC) received a grant from the Kresge Foundation to work with two counties in the state in order to develop strategies to address adaptation to climate change, and San Luis Obispo County was one of the counties selected.  The LGC has been working with the National Center for Conservation Science and Policy, the County, and the incorporated cities to explore strategies to address effects of climate change on 6 key areas: water, health, infrastructure, agriculture, coastal marine, and tourism.  San Luis Obispo was selected by the LGC to participate in this process primarily due to local jurisdictions’ commitment to develop Climate Action Plans.  Kate Meis, project manager with the LGC states, “We knew there was political support and that’s really important.  I don’t think we would have pursued this without local champions.”

Results of strategies discussed were presented to the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors on November 2, 2010 (item F-1).   A link to the County web site may be found HERE.
